Traganou is not Tsambika with a different name. It has a harder, more open feel, with pebbles/shingle and cave formations giving it a different identity.
Beach character
- Municipal beach information notes Traganou for the cave on one side of the beach.
- Traveller patterns repeatedly describe it as pebbly or shingly rather than soft sand.
- The water can feel clearer and more abrupt than shallow sandy family beaches, so choose it for scenery and swimming confidence rather than toddler-friendly sand play.
Access and parking
- Traganou sits near the Faliraki/Afandou side of the east coast, making it easy to pair with Anthony Quinn, Ladiko or Afandou if the day stays local.
- Bring footwear that handles pebbles and hot ground better than thin flip-flops.
- Parking is usually simpler than the most famous coves, but arrive earlier in high season if you want an easier setup.
